1. Attend Chamber events and give of your time.

This is YOUR Chamber and your participation can only help make the events better, thus providing more profit for your business and all other Chamber Businesses. The community sees the investment you have made and learns to like and trust you for your dedication. Get involved in your Chamber and take ownership.

2. Attend the dinner mixers.

As you network around the room, listen to what others are saying and suggest ways that you can partner with the other business owner to benefit both businesses. Consider providing a door prize. A gift certificate helps get new customers in the door of your business. A gift basket shows off your wares and your business gets mentioned during the drawing as well.

3. Place your brochures and business cards at the chamber office/visitor center.

While you are dropping materials off, talk to the volunteers about what it is you do so they can refer customers to you.

4. Take advantage of your Chamber member benefits.

The Chamber provides you many tools to help you make your business grow. Not only can you place print materials on our brochure wall, you can also offer special members-only sales, make use of the Chamber’s social media marketing, take advantage of sponsorship opportunities, vendor discounts and network at the dinners.

5. Join a Chamber committee.

There are various boards and committees that allow you to work directly with community leaders as well as be a leader yourself. These committees always welcome new members and are a great way to meet other members fast. Our current committees are: membership, events (with Boomtown Days and Jazz Up Dunnellon Music Festival as two separate subcommittees), government communications, tourism and economic development.

6. Promote your business through numerous sponsorship opportunities at our events, and invite the Chamber to become involved in your events.

Events bring visitors to town. Visitors to the community bring a whole new clientele to local businesses.

7. Let the Chamber help you celebrate achievements at your workplace.

Whether you are a new business, celebrating an anniversary or having a grand reopening after a major change, chamber would be happy to help host your celebration with a ribbon cutting at your event.

8. Offer a seminar to help fellow members understand the nature of your business.

Whether it’s about cyber security, flood insurance or end of life planning, the chamber offers a meeting space in its board room for small group presentations. Let’s get something scheduled!

9. Create a referral power team.

Take advantage of networking to get to know members who have businesses who can be part of your team. For example, the wedding power team should have an event planner, deejay, event venue, caterer, photographer, etc. When you or your team members sit down with a potential client, ask the client if they need any other services.

10. Advertise on the new Chamber website.

Visitors to the Chamber website often come to the website looking for specifics, to see if they can find a trusted chamber member who does what they are looking for. You have the chance to make your business the first thing they see when they land on the Chamber’s website.
