Sometimes we forget what a great community we live in. Sometimes we hear so much negativity and feel an estrangement from each other that we become weary of all the news. But let me tell you something about Dunnellon. As most of you know, I had a total knee replacement on May 18. After a couple of days in the hospital, I went home to heal and eat the hubby’s cooking. Thank goodness some other people had a different idea. Amber Bouton and Deidra Whitt put together a group of people who cooked every night for Jim and I. They signed up to prepare a meal and delivered the meal on their assigned day. This went on for over two weeks after my surgery. While there is no way I can ever thank these people enough, but it is reason enough for us to remember why we love Dunnellon. Why we love the people of Dunnellon and why we believe in Dunnellon so much. Thank you to each one of you who came to my home bearing food. Your kindness will always be remembered. The fact that you saved me from the hubby’s cooking will never be forgotten. This is why I (heart) Dunnellon!
So many things are scheduled over the summer. The Dunnellon Library, located at 20351 Robinson Road in Dunnellon, is having craft classes every Wednesday during the month of June beginning at 2pm. Classes run until June 20. Call the Library at 352-436-2520.
Of course, it isn’t summer without the Chamber’s Boomtown Blast! Once again the free event will be held at Dunnellon High School, on Monday, July 4. Vendors will arrive around 5pm and the gates will open at 6. Music will be enjoyed as well as live remotes from WOW 104.9. Watermelon, hot dogs, ice cream and drinks are among some of the food that will be available for your picnic on the field. Dan Hilton will once again provide the best fireworks display in the area! Come and join the party. Park up close in the Dunnellon High School parking areas for only $5.00 a carload or park alongside “High School Road” 180th Avenue Road for free. Either way, this will be a special Boomtown Blast!
